The Wind Beneath My Wings Award (The Katie) honors and recognizes a student who has achieved
academic success while providing service and exemplary leadership to his/her college/university and
community. The Awarded must have made a difference in the lives of others through volunteerism
and leadership.

Nominations for this award must come from the senior staff in multicultural student services and must
be supported by a five hundred-word essay highlighting the student's accomplishments. Only students in
attendance at The 2011 National Black Student Leadership Conference are eligible to be considered.

The winner of "The Katie" will receive a crystal eagle and stipend check, provided by Mr. Marvin
Dickerson, President and CEO of Dickerson Technologies and a National Black Student Leadership
Conference Alumnus. For the 2008 "Katie", nominations must be received by December 1, 2010.
